It is not enough to know, we must also apply; it is not enough to want, we must also do.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Wyhl 1975: On the construction site of the planned nuclear power plant in the town of Wyhl, Baden, a new citizens' movement emerges. They prevent the construction of the plant and become a model for the emerging anti-nuclear movement. Among them are the two architecture students and future company founders: Gabriele Krüger and Bernhard Bauer. Both gradually realize that protest is not enough, and they resolve to make a change.

The first organic control
Out of enthusiasm for the organic idea...

... we committed ourselves to ecological principles and founded the organic store "Kornstube" in Alfter (near Bonn) in 1978. In the spring of 1979, the mother of the company’s founder (Bernhard Bauer) came to inspect why organic farming was more important than architecture studies (the first organic inspection).

1979 Establishment of the "Biological Milling Bakery Kornstube GmbH" in Wesseling Urfeld: the mother of all organic bakeries in Cologne today that bear the name "Kornstube"...
Out of the desire to reinvent the wheel...

... we founded BIOASE in 1985. With BIOASE, we were able to multiply our ecological approach directly on the street. With our organic cooking missions in the 80s and 90s and the information we distributed, we tried, within our means, to inspire consumers to rethink their habits. At the Moers Jazz Days in 1991, we were able to design and implement a holistic ecological concept aimed at establishing reusable tableware at large events. The ban on disposable tableware was a complete success, earning us over 30 articles of praise from all over Europe.

Out of respect for the tried and true...

... we seek products that have been made in a traditional way for a long time and still serve as models today. For example, in 2006 we found such a product in Aleppo, Syria, where solid soap was invented about 1,200 years ago. Our original FIN i grana Aleppo soap is still produced in the Aleppo region to this day.

Curvy Nail File
Out of curiosity for innovations...

... we try out new products that convince us. In 1998, we introduced the Finigrana glass nail file to the German market. Most recently, we are presenting the first ergonomic glass nail file.
Out of a desire for pure ingredients...

... our organic cosmetics manufacturing facility in Korschenbroich was born. This is where our NaPUR cosmetics are made from pure organic oils and fats. We consciously avoid all additives during production.
